He asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "We live near the People of the Book, and they cook pork in their pots and drink wine from their vessels."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "If you can find other vessels, eat and drink from those. If you cannot find any others, wash them with water and then eat and drink from them."
أنه سأل رسول الله ﷺ قال: إنا نجاور أهل الكتاب وهم يطبخون في قدورهم الخنزير، ويشربون في آنيتهم الخمر؟ فقال رسول الله ﷺ: إن وجدتم غيرها فكلوا فيها واشربوا، وإن لم تجدوا غيرها فارحضوها بالماء وكلوا واشربوا.
Abu Dawud (3839) and Tabarani in Musnad Shamiyin (783) both narrated it through Muhammad bin Shuayb, who said, Abdullah bin Ala bin Zabr informed us, from Abu Ubaydullah Muslim bin Mishkam, from Abu Thalaba, and he related it. Its chain of transmission is sahih.Tirmidhi (1797) and Ahmad (17750) both narrated it from the hadith of Hammad bin Salama, from Ayub, from Abu Qilaba, from Abu Asma Rahbi (who is Amr bin Marthad), from Abu Thalaba, who related something similar, and in it, "Wash them with water and cook in them," and this wording is Ahmad's.Rahd means ghusl.
