An Arabi named Abu Thalaba said, "Messenger of Allah, I have trained hunting dogs. Give me a ruling concerning their game."The Prophet ﷺ said, "If you have trained hunting dogs, then eat from what they catch for you."He asked, "Whether the prey is slaughtered properly or not?"The Prophet replied, "Yes."He asked, "Even if the dog has eaten from it?"The Prophet replied, "Even if it has eaten from it."He said, "Messenger of Allah, give me a ruling concerning my bow."The Prophet said, "Eat whatever your bow brings down for you."He asked, "Whether slaughtered properly or not?"The Prophet replied, "Yes."He asked, "Even if the prey disappears from my sight?"The Prophet said, "Even if it disappears from you, as long as it has not begun to rot, or you do not find in it the mark of an arrow other than your own."He asked, "Give me a ruling concerning the vessels of the Magians when we are compelled to use them."The Prophet said, "Wash them and eat from them."
