It was narrated by Abu Dawud (3222) and Ahmad (13032), and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (3146), all of them through the route of Abdul-Razzaq, and it is also in his Musannaf (6690), he said, Numair told us, from Thabit, from Anas, and he related it. It is a fragment of a longer hadith, which Abu Dawud abridged, while it is found in full with the others. Its chain of transmission is sahih. As for his saying, "There is no aqr in Islam," Abdul-Razzaq explained it, as reported by Abu Dawud, by saying, "They used to slaughter a cow or a sheep at the grave, or in another wording, or something," end of quote.Khattabi said in Maalim Sunan (4/339), "The people of the pre-Islamic era used to slaughter camels at the grave of a generous man, saying, we are rewarding him for what he did, because he used to slaughter them during his lifetime and feed his guests, so we slaughter them at his grave so that the beasts and birds may eat them, so that he continues to provide food after his death just as he provided it during his life."He said, "Some of them held the view that if his mount was slaughtered at his grave, he would be raised on the Day of Resurrection riding, while whoever did not have this done for him would be raised on foot. This was based on the doctrine of those among them who believed in the Bath after death."
