I asked the Prophet ﷺ about game struck by a featherless arrow. He said, "If it strikes with its sharp edge, eat it. But if it strikes with its broad side, it is considered as having been killed by a blunt object, so do not eat it."I also asked him about game caught by a hunting dog.He said, "Whatever it catches for you, eat, for the dog's seizing of it serves as its slaughter. But if you find another dog with your dog or dogs and you fear that it may have caught the game alongside yours and killed it, then do not eat, because you mentioned the name of Allah only over your own dog, not over the other one."
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Sacrifices and Hunting (5475), and Muslim in the Book of Hunting and Sacrifices (1929:4), both of them through Zakariya, from Amir Shaybi, from Adi bin Hatim, who mentioned it.
