The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said regarding game caught by a hunting dog, "When you send your dog and mention the name of Allah, then eat from what it catches, even if the dog has eaten from it. And eat whatever your hand brings back to you."
قال رسول الله ﷺ في صيد الكلب: إذا أرسلت كلبك، وذكرت اسم الله تعالى فكل، وإن أكل منه، وكل ما ردت عليك يدك.
Abu Dawud (2852) narrated it from Muhammad bin Isa, who said, our teacher was Hushaym, who said, our teacher was Dawud bin Amr, from Busr bin Ubaydullah, from Abu Idris Khawlani, from Abu Thalaba Khushani, and he related it.Bayhaqi (9/237) also related it, by way of Abu Dawud. Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Dawud bin Amr, who is the Damascene. There is disagreement about him, but his hadith is hasan. Ibn Abdul-Hadi also graded its chain of transmission hasan in al-Tanqih (4/626).
