Abdullah bin Amr bin As reported,

An Arabi named Abu Thalaba said, "Messenger of Allah, I have trained hunting dogs, so give me a ruling concerning their game."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "If you have trained hunting dogs, then eat from what they catch for you."Abu Thalaba asked, "Whether it has been ritually slaughtered or not?"He answered, "Yes."Abu Thalaba asked, "Even if the dog has eaten some of it?"He said, "Even if it has eaten some of it."Abu Thalaba then said, "Messenger of Allah, give me a ruling concerning my bow."He replied, "Eat whatever your bow brings down for you."Abu Thalaba asked, "Whether it has been ritually slaughtered or not?"He said, "Yes."Abu Thalaba asked, "Even if the game disappears from my sight?"He answered, "Even if it disappears from you, as long as it has not begun to rot, or you find on it a mark other than that of your arrow."Abu Thalaba asked, "Give me a ruling about the vessels of the Magians when we are compelled to use them."He said, "Wash them and eat from them."
