The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had forbidden us to eat the meat of our sacrifices beyond three days. I went on a journey, then returned to my family a few days after the festival of sacrifice. My wife brought me chard with strips of dried meat in it.I asked her, "Where did you get this dried meat?"She replied, "From our sacrificial animals."I said to her, "Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ not forbid us to eat it beyond three days?"She answered, "He has since granted the people permission."I did not believe her until I sent word to my brother Qatada bin Numan, who had been at Badr, asking him about this. He sent back word saying, "Eat your food, for she has spoken the truth. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has indeed permitted this for the Muslims."
Ahmad narrated it (16214) from Yaqub (that is, Ibn Ibrahim bin Saad Zuhri), who said, my father told us, from Muhammad bin Ishaq, who said, Muhammad bin Ali bin Husayn Abu Jafar and Abu Ishaq bin Yasar told me, from Abdullah bin Hubab, freedman of Banu Adi bin Najjar, from Abu Saeed Khudri, and he mentioned it. Its chain is hasan because of Muhammad bin Ishaq's explicit statement of transmission.Haythami said in Majma (4/26), "Ahmad narrated it and its men are trustworthy," and said, "The hadith of Abu Saeed is in the Sahih, but I have included it here for the hadith of his wife."
