I visited Ayesha, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, and asked her about the meat of sacrificial animals. She replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to forbid keeping it, then he later permitted it. Ali bin Abu Talib once returned from a journey, and Fatimah brought him some meat from her sacrificial animals."Ali asked, "Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ not forbid this?"Fatimah answered, "He has now permitted it."Ayesha continued, "So Ali went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked him about it, and he said, 'Eat from it from one Dhul-Hijjah to the next.'"
Imam Ahmad narrated it (26415) from Yaqub (that is, Ibn Ibrahim bin Saad Zuhri), who said, my father narrated to me, from Muhammad bin Ishaq, who said, Yazid bin Abu Habib narrated to me, from Sulayman bin Abu Sulayman, from his mother Umm Sulayman, both of whom were trustworthy, she said, and then she recounted it.Its chain is hasan because of Ibn Ishaq, and the rest of its narrators are trustworthy, except for Sulayman bin Abu Sulayman and his mother, who were deemed trustworthy only as they appear in this chain.Haythami said in al-Majma (4/27), Ahmad and Tabarani narrated it in al-Awsat, and he said, "Umm Sulayman narrated nothing but this hadith." I say, she was deemed trustworthy as stated in al-Musnad, and the rest of Ahmad's narrators are trustworthy. End quote.I say, Imam Ahmad also narrated it (25218), and Tahawi in Sharh Maani (4/187), through the route of Layth (that is, Ibn Saad), who said, Harith bin Yaqub Ansari narrated to me, from Yazid bin Abu Yazid Ansari, from his wife, that she asked Ayesha about the meat of sacrificial animals..." the hadith in similar wording.Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (5933) by another route, from Amr bin Harith, from his father, from Yazid, the freed slave of Salama bin Akwa, that his wife Umm Salim...Its narrators are trustworthy except for Yazid bin Abu Yazid, who is the freed slave of Salama bin Akwa as given in Ibn Hibban's chain. He mentioned him among his trustworthy narrators (5/535), but he said, "Yazid bin Abu Ubayd, the freed slave of Salama, from whom Yahya Qattan and other people narrated."Amr bin Harith and his father Harith bin Yaqub Masri are both trustworthy and virtuous, and Umm Salim is the wife of Sulayman bin Abu Sulayman mentioned earlier, and she has been deemed trustworthy. So this chain is acceptable as a corroborating narration, and it adds strength to the previous chain.
