Abdullah bin Waqid reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade eating the meat of sacrificial animals after three days.Abdullah bin Abu Bakr said, I mentioned this to Amra bint Abdul-Rahman, and she said, "He has spoken the truth. I heard Ayesha, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, say that some desert people came in haste at the time of the sacrifice during the era of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Store enough for three days and give the rest in charity.'"She continued, Some time later, it was said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "People used to benefit from their sacrificial animals, rendering fat from them and making waterskins from their hides."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "What about that?" or something similar.They replied, "You forbade the meat of sacrificial animals after three days."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I only forbade you because of the people who came in haste upon you. Now eat, give in charity, and store it."

عن عبد الله بن واقد أنه قال

نهى رسول الله ﷺ عن أكل لحوم الضحايا بعد ثلاثة أيام، قال عبد الله بن أبي بكر: فذكرت ذلك لعمرة بنت عبد الرحمن فقالت: صدق. سمعت عائشة زوج النبي ﷺ تقول دف ناس من أهل البادية حضرة الأضحى في زمان رسول الله ﷺ فقال رسول الله ﷺ: ادخروا لثلاث وتصدقوا بما بقي. قالت: فلما كان بعد ذلك قيل لرسول الله ﷺ: لقد كان الناس ينتفعون بضحاياهم، ويجملون منها الودك، ويتخذون منها الأشقية. فقال رسول الله ﷺ: وما ذلك؟ أو كما قال قالوا: نهيت: عن لحوم الضحايا بعد ثلاث. فقال رسول الله ﷺ: إنما نهيتكم من أجل الدافة التي دفت عليكم، فكلوا و تصدقوا وادخروا.
