The Prophet ﷺ said on the Day of Sacrifice, "Whoever slaughtered before the prayer must repeat the sacrifice."A man stood up and said, "Messenger of Allah, this is a day on which meat is craved." He mentioned his neighbors and added, "I have a young goat that is better than two sheep's worth of meat."The Prophet ﷺ granted him permission to sacrifice it, but I do not know whether the permission extended to anyone besides him. Then the Prophet ﷺ turned to two rams and slaughtered them, and the people went to a small flock of sheep and divided them among themselves, or he said, they hurried to them.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Sacrifices (5549), and Muslim in the Book of Sacrifices (10:1962), both of them through Ibrahim Ibn Ulaya, from Ayub, from Muhammad bin Sirin, from Anas, who mentioned it.
