A man during the time of the Prophet ﷺ vowed to slaughter some camels at Buwanah. He came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "I have vowed to slaughter some camels at Buwanah."The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Was there any idol there from the idols of the pre-Islamic era that used to be worshipped?"They replied, "No."He asked, "Was any of their festivals held there?"They replied, "No."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Fulfill your vow, for there is no fulfillment of a vow that involves disobedience to Allah, nor in what the son of Adam does not own."
Abu Dawud (3313) narrated it from Dawud bin Rashid, who said, Shuayb bin Ishaq told us, from Uzai, from Yahya bin Abu Kathir, who said, Abu Qilaba told me, who said, Thabit bin Dahhak told me, and he related it.Its chain of transmission is sahih, and Hafiz also graded it sahih in Talkhis (4/180). It seems likely that this man is Kardam, as in the hadith of Maymuna bint Kardam, which is the hadith that follows.
