Her father met the Prophet ﷺ while she was riding behind him. He said, "I have vowed to sacrifice at Buwanah."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "Is there an idol there?"He replied, "No."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Then fulfill your vow."
أن أباها لقى النبي ﷺ وهي رديفة له. فقال: إني نذرت أن أنحر ببوانة. فقال رسول الله ﷺ: هل بها وثن قال: لا، قال: أوف بنذرك.
Ibn Majah (2131) narrated it from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba, who said, "Marwan bin Muawiya narrated to us, from Abdullah bin Abdul-Rahman Taifi, from Maymuna bint Kardam," and he related it. He also narrated it through another route, inserting between Abdullah bin Abdul-Rahman and Maymuna bint Kardam the name "Yazid bin Miqsam." Its chain is hasan due to Abdullah bin Abdul-Rahman Taifi, Abu Yaala Thaqafi, who is among the men of Muslim, except that there is disagreement about him, though he is accepted in corroborating and supporting narrations, and this is one of them.Likewise, the name of this man has come as "Kardam" in the hadith of Amr bin Shuayb, from the daughter of Kardama, from her father, that he asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, saying, "I have vowed to slaughter three of my camels." He said, "If it was for a gathering place of the pagan gatherings, or for a festival of the pagan festivals, or for an idol, then no. But if it was for something other than that, then fulfill your vow." He said, "O Messenger of Allah, this girl's mother is obligated to walk, shall I walk on her behalf?" He said, "Yes."Ahmad (16607) narrated it from Abu Bakr Hanafi, who said, "Ibn Jafar narrated to us, from Amr bin Shuayb, from the daughter of Kardama," and he related it, but it contains a break in the chain, for Amr bin Shuayb did not hear from the daughter of Kardama.Abu Dawud (3315) narrated it from Muhammad bin Bashshar, "Abu Bakr Hanafi narrated to us," with his chain, in abbreviated form, and in it, "This mother of mine has upon her a vow and a walking obligation, shall I fulfill it on her behalf?" And perhaps Ibn Bashar said, "Shall I discharge it on her behalf?" He said, "Yes."On this same matter, it has also been narrated from Sarah bint Miqsam Thaqafi, that she heard Maymuna bint Kardam, who said, and she related the hadith similarly, with some variation in its wording. Abu Dawud (3314) narrated it, and Sarah bint Miqsam Thaqafi is unknown.As for his saying "Bawana," with the ba pronounced with a dammah, followed by an alif and then a nun, it is a place located between Syria and the lands of Bakr, as stated by Abu Ubayd, though others have said otherwise, as mentioned by Hafiz in Talkhis.
