The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever drinks wine, flog him. If he does so a fourth time, execute him."
قال رسول الله ﷺ من شرب الخمر فاجلدوه، فإن عاد في الرابعة فاقتلوه.
Reported by Abu Dawud (4482), Tirmidhi (1444), Ibn Majah (2573), and Ahmad (16859), and graded sahih by Ibn Hibban (4446), Hakim (4/372), and Bayhaqi (8/313), all of them from the hadith of Asim bin Bahdala, from Abu Salih, from Muawiya, who related it. Its chain is hasan because of Asim bin Bahdala, for he is hasan al-hadith.Ahmad (16847) and Nasai (5298) also both reported it through another route, from the hadith of Mughira bin Miqsam Dabbi, from Mabad Qass, from Abdul-Rahman bin Abd, from Muawiya, in similar wording. This chain is sahih. Mabad Qass is Mabad bin Khalid Jadali, and Abdul-Rahman bin Abd is Abu Abdullah Jadali.
