He married Umm Yahya bint Abu Ihab. A black slave woman came and said, "I have nursed you both."He mentioned this to the Prophet ﷺ, but the Prophet ﷺ turned away from him. He moved to the other side and mentioned it to him again.The Prophet ﷺ said, "How can you stay with her when she has claimed that she nursed you both?" He forbade him from her.In another narration, "How can you, when it has been said? Leave her."
أنه تزوج أم يحيى بنت أبي إهاب، قال: فجاءت أمة سوداء فقالت: قد أرضعتكما، فذكرت ذلك للنبي ﷺ فأعرض عني، قال: فتنحيت فذكرت ذلك له، قال: وكيف وقد زعمت أن قد أرضعتكماا فنهاه عنها. وفي رواية: وكيف وقد قيل! دعها عنكا
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Testimonies (2659) through the route of Ibn Jurayj, from Ibn Abu Mulayka, from Uqba bin Harith. The other narration (2660) came through the route of Umar bin Saeed, from Ibn Abu Mulayka, with the same wording.This hadith provides evidence for accepting the testimony of a single woman in matters that men would not normally be aware of, such as breastfeeding, and the testimony of the midwife regarding whether a child was born alive, and similar matters.
