I said, "Messenger of Allah, will you not appoint me to a position of authority?"He struck his hand on my shoulder and said, "Abu Dharr, you are weak, and it is a trust. On the Day of Resurrection it will be disgrace and regret, except for the one who takes it by its rightful claim and fulfills what is due from him in it."
Muslim narrated it in al-Imarah (1825) from Abdul-Malik bin Shuayb bin Layth, who said, my father, Shuayb bin Layth, told me, Layth bin Saad told me, Yazid bin Abu Habib told me, from Bakr bin Amr, from Harith bin Yazid Hadrami, from Ibn Hujayra al-Akbar, from Abu Dharr, who mentioned it.
