Sahla bint Suhayl came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, Salim is called the son of Abu Huzaifa and he lives with us. He comes in on me while I am in my house clothes, and our house is small. Yet Allah Almighty has said, 'Call them after their fathers, that is more just in the sight of Allah' [Ahzab 33:5]."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Nurse him, and you will become unlawful for him."
جاءت سهلة بنت سهيل إلى رسول الله ﷺ فقالت: يا رسول الله! إن سالما يدعي لأبي حذيفة، ويأوي معه، ويدخل على فيراني فضلا. ونحن في منزل ضيق. وقال الله تعالى: {ادعوهم لآبائهم هو أقسط عند الله} [الأحزاب: ٥] فقال: أرضعيه تحرمي عليه.
Abdul-Razzaq (13885) narrated it from Maamar, from Zuhri, from Urwa, from Ayesha, as related above. Zuhri said, "Some of the wives of the Prophet ﷺ said, 'We do not know, perhaps this was a permission granted specifically to Salim.'" Zuhri also said, "Ayesha used to give the ruling that breastfeeding does not create a prohibition of marriage after weaning, and she held to this until she died."Her word "fadl" means dishevelled, referring to a woman when she wears her work clothes.
