Fatimah was living in a desolate dwelling, and there was concern for her safety, so for that reason the Messenger of Allah ﷺ granted her a concession.
إن فاطمة كانت في مسكن وحش، فخيف عليها، فلذلك أرخص لها رسول الله ﷺ.
Abu Dawud (2292) and Ibn Majah (2032) both narrated it from the hadith of Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Zinad, from Hisham bin Urwa, from his father, who said, "I went to see Marwan, and I said to him, 'A woman from your family was divorced, and I passed by her while she was moving out.' She said, 'Fatimah bint Qays instructed us to do this, and she told us that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had ordered her to move out.' Marwan said, 'She is the one who instructed them to do that.'"Urwa said, "So I said, 'By Allah, Ayesha criticized that. She said that Fatimah had been living in a certain dwelling, and she mentioned it.'"This is the wording of Ibn Majah. As for Abu Dawud, he did not mention the story of Marwan, but was content to say, "Ayesha criticized that very strongly, and she said that Fatimah had been in a desolate place, and there were fears for her safety there, and that was why the Messenger of Allah ﷺ permitted her to move out."Its chain of transmission is hasan, on account of Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Zinad, for there is disagreement about him, though his hadith is hasan.
