The Prophet ﷺ said, "The worst of food is the food of a wedding feast to which those who would come are denied and those who refuse are invited. Whoever does not accept the invitation has disobeyed Allah and His Messenger."
أن النبي ﷺ قال: شر الطعام طعام الوليمة، يمنعها من يأتيها، ويدعى إليها من يأباها، ومن لم يجب الدعوة، فقد عصى الله ورسوله.
Muslim reported it in the Book of Marriage (110:1432), from Ibn Abu Umar, who said, Sufyan (that is, Ibn Uyayna) narrated to us, I heard Ziyad bin Saad say, I heard Thabit al-Araj narrating from Abu Hurairah, that the Prophet ﷺ said (and he mentioned it). Thabit is Ibn Iyad al-Ahnaf, known by the nickname al-Araj.
