Jabir bin Abdullah reported,

The Jews used to say that if a man approached his wife while she was lying on her face, the child born would be cross-eyed. So the verse was revealed, "Your wives are a tillage for you, so come to your tillage as you wish" [Baqarah 2:223], meaning he may approach her whether she is on her face or otherwise, so long as it is in the one passage.
