Fatimah came to Abu Bakr and asked, "Who will inherit from you?"He replied, "My family and my children."She said, "Then why do I not inherit from my father?"Abu Bakr answered, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'We are not inherited from.' But I will support those whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to support, and I will provide for those whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to provide for."
Tirmidhi (1608) narrated it from Muhammad bin Muthanna, who said, Abu Walid told us, who said, Hammad bin Salama told us, from Muhammad bin Amr, from Abu Salama, from Abu Hurairah, and he related it. Its chain is hasan because of Muhammad bin Amr, who is hasan al-hadith.Tirmidhi said, The hadith of Abu Hurairah is a hasan gharib hadith from this angle. Only Hammad bin Salama and Abdul-Wahhab bin Ata related it with a full chain, from Muhammad bin Amr, from Abu Salama, from Abu Hurairah. I asked Muhammad about this hadith, and he said, I do not know of anyone who related it from Muhammad bin Amr, from Abu Salama, from Abu Hurairah, except Hammad bin Salama. Abdul-Wahhab bin Ata also related it from Muhammad bin Amr, from Abu Salama, from Abu Hurairah, similar to the narration of Hammad bin Salama. Then he related it (1609), and Ahmad (79) as well, both from the hadith of Abdul-Wahhab bin Ata with his chain. In it, Fatimah came to Abu Bakr and Umar asking for her inheritance from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and they said, We heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "I am not inherited from." She said, "By Allah, I will never speak to either of you again." Then she died without speaking to them. This is the wording of Tirmidhi. Ahmad did not mention her statement, "By Allah, I will never speak to either of you again..."Tirmidhi said, Ali bin Isa, who is his teacher, said, The meaning of "I will not speak to you both" is that she meant regarding this inheritance forever. You are both truthful.
