The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Hold on to your wealth and do not squander it. Whoever grants a lifetime gift, it belongs to the one to whom it was granted, both during his life and after his death, and to his descendants."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: أمسكوا عليكم أموالكم، ولا تفسدوها، فإنه من أعمر عمرى فهيي للذي أعمرها حيا وميتا ولعقبه.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Gifts (1625: 26), from Yahya bin Yahya, who reported, Abu Khaythama informed us, from Abu Zubayr, from Jabir, and he related it.In another version, "The Ansar began granting the Muhajirin lifetime gifts of their property, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Keep your property for yourselves.'"
