The Messenger of Allah ﷺ distributed some cloaks but did not give Makhramah anything from them.Makhramah said, "My son, come with me to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."So I went with him. He said, "Go in and call him out for me."I called him, and he came out wearing one of those cloaks.He said, "We set this aside for you."Makhramah looked at it, and the Prophet ﷺ said, "Makhramah is pleased."
قسم رسول الله ﷺ أقبية، ولم يعط مخرمة منها شيئا. فقال مخرمة: يا بني انطلق بنا إلى رسول الله ﷺ، فانطلقت معه، فقال: ادخل، فادعه لي. قال: فدعوته له، فخرج إليه، وعليه قباء منها. فقال: خبأنا هذا لك. قال: فنظر إليه، فقال: رضي مخرمة.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Gifts (2599), and Muslim in the Book of Zakat (1058), both from Qutayba bin Saeed, who said, Layth narrated to us, from Ibn Abu Mulayka, from Miswar bin Makhrama, and he related it. In one version from Bukhari, "and there was harshness in his temperament."
