Jabir reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, "If the wealth of Bahrain comes, I will give you this much," scooping with both hands three times. But it did not arrive until the Prophet ﷺ passed away.Abu Bakr then ordered a crier to announce, "Whoever had a promise or a debt owed to him by the Prophet ﷺ, let him come to us."So I went to him and said, "The Prophet ﷺ promised me something." He scooped out for me three handfuls.
قال لي رسول الله ﷺ لو جاء مال البحرين أعطيتك هكذا ثلاثا فلم يقدم حتى توفي النبي ﷺ، فأمر أبو بكر مناديا فنادى: من كان له عند النبي ﷺ عدة أو دين فليأتنا. فأتيته، فقلت: إن النبي ﷺ وعدني، فحثا لي ثلاثا.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Gifts (2598), and Muslim in the Book of Virtues (2314), both from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna, from Muhammad bin Munkadir, who said, I heard Jabir say, and then he mentioned it. In another version, Abu Bakr then said, "Count them." So I counted them, and they were five hundred. He said, "Take twice that amount."
