My father took me, carrying me, to the Messenger of Allah and said, "Messenger of Allah, I bear witness that I have given Numan such and such from my property as a gift."The Prophet asked, "Have you given each of your sons a gift like the one you have given Numan?"He replied, "No."The Prophet said, "Then have someone other than me bear witness to this."Then he asked, "Would it please you that they be equal to you in their kindness?"He answered, "Yes, of course."The Prophet said, "Then do not do this."
انطلق بي أبي يحملني إلى رسول الله، فقال: يا رسول الله، أشهد أني قد نحلت النعمان كذا وكذا من مالي، فقال: أكل بنيك قد نحلت مثل ما نحلت النعمان؟ قال: لا. قال: فأشهد على هذا غيري. ثم قال: أيسرك أن يكونوا إليك في البر سواء؟ قال: بلى. قال: فلا إذا.
