People used to time their gifts for the day when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would be with Ayesha, seeking by that to please him.
أن الناس كانوا يتحرون بهداياهم يوم عائشة. يبتغون بذلك مرضاة رسول الله ﷺ.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Gifts (2574), and Muslim in the Book of the Virtues of the Companions (2441), both from the hadith of Abdah, who said, Hisham narrated to us, from his father, from Ayesha, and he related it.
