The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to accept gifts but would not accept charity.
كان رسول الله ﷺ يقبل الهدية، ولا يقبل الصدقة.
Ahmad (17688) narrated it from Hisham bin Saeed, who said, Hasan bin Ayub Hadrami told me, Abdullah bin Busr told me, and he related it.Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Hasan bin Ayub Hadrami, Abu Abdullah Shami, one of the men found in Tajil (204). Ahmad said, "I see no harm in him," and Ibn Hibban mentioned him in Thiqat (4/126).
