The Messenger of Allah ﷺ clothed me in a striped silk garment that Fayruz had gifted to him. I put on the lower wrap, and it was far too long and wide for me, so it dragged on the ground. Then I put on the upper garment and wrapped it over my head as a hood. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took me by the shoulder and said, "Abdullah, raise your lower wrap, for whatever of the lower garment touches the ground below the ankles will be in the Fire."Abdullah bin Muhammad said, I have never seen anyone who kept his garment hitched up higher than Abdullah bin Umar.
Ahmad (5713) and Abu Yaala (5714) narrated it through two routes, from Ubaydullah bin Umar, from Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqeel, from Ibn Umar, and he related it. Its chain is hasan because of Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqeel, for his hadith is hasan. As for the story about raising the garment alone, it is found only in Sahih Muslim (2086), from the hadith of Abdullah bin Waqid, from Ibn Umar, who said, and he related it.
