We said to Ali bin Abu Talib, "Tell us something that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ confided to you in secret."He replied, "He did not confide to me anything that he kept hidden from the people, but I heard him say, 'Allah has cursed whoever sacrifices to other than Allah. Allah has cursed whoever shelters a criminal. Allah has cursed whoever curses his parents. And Allah has cursed whoever alters the boundary markers of the land.'"
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Sacrifices (1978:44) from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba, who said, our teacher Abu Khalid Ahmar, Sulayman bin Hayan, told us, from Mansur bin Hayan, from Abu Tufayl, and he related it.Abdullah bin Ahmad narrated it in the Musnad (855) from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba with his chain of transmission, and in it it says, "Allah has cursed whoever alters the boundary markers of the land," meaning the landmarks. Among the meanings of boundary markers is that a man enters into another's property and cuts it off from him unjustly.
