The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade taking the earnings of a slave woman unless she had a proper occupation or a known means of earning.

Tahawi related it in his commentary (1/256), and Bayhaqi (8/8), both from the hadith of Ibn Wahb, who said, Muslim bin Khalid informed me, from Ala bin Abdul-Rahman, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, and he mentioned it. Its chain is hasan due to the discussion surrounding Muslim bin Khalid, who is al-Zanji, though his hadith is hasan. The following hadiths may support it.It is understood from this hadith that what is meant by the forbidden earnings of the slave woman is trading in her body specifically. As for when she is engaged in permissible work such as spinning, sewing, or the like, there is no harm in her earnings from that.
