The Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned that a man from the Children of Israil asked another from the Children of Israil to lend him a thousand Dinars.The lender said, "Bring me witnesses so I may have them witness the loan."The borrower replied, "Allah is sufficient as a witness."The lender said, "Bring me a guarantor."The borrower replied, "Allah is sufficient as a guarantor."The lender said, "You have spoken the truth."So he handed the money over to him for a fixed term. عن رسول الله ﷺ أنه ذكر أن رجلا من بني إسرائيل سأل بعض بني إسرائيل أن يسلفه ألف دينار، قال: ائتني بشهداء أشهدهم. قال: كفى بالله شهيدا. قال: ائتني بالكفيل. قال: كفى بالله كفيلا. قال: صدقت. فدفعها إليه إلى أجل مسمى. الحديث.
Ahmad narrated it (8587) from Yunus bin Muhammad, who said, Layth bin Saad narrated to us, from Jafar bin Rabia, from Abdul-Rahman bin Hurmuz, from Abu Hurairah. He related it in full.Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Borrowing (2404) as a suspended narration from Layth, who said, Jafar bin Rabia narrated to me with the same chain, and he mentioned only this portion of the hadith, then related it in full in the Book of Guarantee (2291).
