The Prophet ﷺ said, "May Allah have mercy on the mother of Ismail. Had she left Zamzam alone," or he said, "had she not scooped up the water, it would have been a flowing spring."Then the tribe of Jurhum came and asked, "Will you allow us to settle near you?"She replied, "Yes, but you have no right to the water."They said, "Agreed."
قال النبي ﷺ: يرحم الله أم إسماعيل الله لو تركت زمزم- أو قال: لو لم تغرف من الماء- لكانت عينا معينا، رأقبل جرهم، فقالوا: أتأذنين أن ننزل عندك. قالت: نعم، ولا حق لكم في الماء. قالوا: نعم.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Sharecropping (2368) from Abdullah bin Muhammad, who said, Abdul-Razzaq told us, Mamar told us, from Ayub and Kathir bin Kathir, each of them adding to what the other said, from Saeed bin Jubayr, who said, Ibn Abbas said, and then he mentioned it.
