The Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed the people and said, "The Day of Deliverance, and what is the Day of Deliverance? The Day of Deliverance, and what is the Day of Deliverance?" He repeated this three times.Someone asked him, "What is the Day of Deliverance?"He replied, "The Dajjal will come and ascend Mount Uhud. He will gaze at Madinah and say to his companions, 'Do you see this white palace? That is the mosque of Ahmad.' Then he will approach Madinah, but at every mountain pass he will find an angel standing with a drawn sword. So he will go to the salt flats of al-Jurf and pitch his tent there. Madinah will then tremble with three violent shakes, and no hypocrite man or woman, and no corrupt man or woman, will remain in it without going out to him. That is the Day of Deliverance."
Imam Ahmad (18975) narrated it from Yunus, who said, Hammad, meaning Ibn Salama, narrated to us from Saeed Jariri, from Abdullah bin Shaqiq, from Mihjan bin Adraa, and he mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is sahih. Abdullah bin Shaqiq narrated from the four Caliphs except Abu Bakr, and I have not come across anyone who stated explicitly that he did not hear from Mihjan bin Adraa, nor is he known for tadlis, so the default assumption regarding his use of "an" (from) is that it indicates direct hearing. Hakim (4/543) also graded it sahih according to the standard of Muslim, except that in it Hammad bin Salama narrates it from Khalid Haddan. This serves as a corroboration of Jariri, since Jariri became confused in his memory toward the end of his life, but Hammad bin Salama's narration from him predates that confusion. Haythami said in Majma(3/308), "Ahmad narrated it, and its narrators are the narrators of the sahih."This is not undermined by what Imam Ahmad narrated (18976, 18977) through several routes from Shubah, from Abu Bishr, from Abdullah bin Shaqiq, from Raja bin Abu Raja, who said, Burayda was at the door of the masjid when Mihjan passed by him, and he then mentioned part of the wording of the hadith similar to the previous one, which included, "He will find at every one of its gates an angel with drawn sword barring his entry, so he will not enter it." Here, "Raja bin Abu Raja" has been inserted between Abdullah bin Shaqiq and Mihjan, and this may be an instance of an added link within an otherwise connected chain. Abu Bishr is Jafar bin Iyas, Abu Bishr bin Abu Wahshiya, who is trustworthy, and all the compilers of the six books narrated from him, except that Shubah used to criticize him. It may be that he erred in inserting an intermediary between Abdullah bin Shaqiq and Mihjan, whereas Raja bin Abu Raja is "acceptable," since no one but Ibn Hibban considered him reliable.
