The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Camels are a source of pride for their owners, sheep are a blessing, and goodness is tied to the forelocks of horses until the Day of Judgment."
الإبل عز لأهلها، والغنم بركة، والخير معقود في نواصي الخيل إلى يوم القيامة.
Ibn Majah (2305) narrated it from Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Numayr, who said, Abdullah bin Idris narrated to us, from Husayn, from Amir, from Urwa Bariqi, and he mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is sahih. Ibn Abu Asim also narrated it in al-Ahad wal-Mathani (4/362), and Tabarani in al-Kabir (17/156), both by another route, from Abdullah bin Idris in similar fashion. Abdullah bin Idris is Awdi, Abu Muhammad Kufi, a trustworthy and precise narrator. However, Muslim (1872:99) narrated it from him without the addition about camels and sheep, so perhaps he sometimes narrated the hadith about the horse alone, and other times with the addition about camels and sheep, and both are sahih.Ibn Muflih said in al-Adab ash-Shariyyah (2/417), Ibn Majah has, with a good chain of transmission, from the hadith of Urwa Bariqi, "Camels are a source of pride for their owners, sheep are a blessing, and good is tied to the forelocks of horses until the Day of Resurrection." Ibn Majah and Abu Yaala reported it in full, and its chain of transmission is sahih. Barqani narrated it meeting the conditions of the Sahihayn. As for what was narrated from Abdullah bin Umar, who said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The sheep is among the beasts of Paradise," this is daif. Ibn Majah (2306) narrated it from Isma bin Fadl Nisaburi and Muhammad bin Firas Abu Hurairah Sayrafi, who said, Harmi bin Umara narrated to us, who said, Zirbi, the imam of the masjid of Hisham bin Hassan, narrated to us, who said, Muhammad bin Sirin narrated to us, from Ibn Umar, and he mentioned it.Zirbi, with a fatha on the zay and sukun on the ra, is Ibn Abdullah Azdi, their client, Abu Yahya Basri, and he is daif. Bukhari said, "There is something questionable about him." Tirmidhi said, "He has munkar hadiths." I say, and this is one of them, for this hadith is not known from Muhammad bin Sirin except through his route.
