The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was cupped by Abu Taybah, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered that he be given a saa of dates and instructed his masters to reduce the tax they imposed on him.
احتجم رسول الله ﷺ، حجمه أبو طيبة فأمر له رسول الله ﷺ بصاع من تمر، وأمر أهله أن يخففوا عنه من خراجه.
Malik narrated it in the Book of Seeking Permission (26) from Humayd Tawil, from Anas. Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Trade (2102) through Malik with the same chain. Muslim narrated it in the Book of Sharecropping (1577:64) through Shubah, from Humayd, with a similar wording.He also narrated it (62) through Ismail bin Jafar, from Humayd, who said, Anas bin Malik was asked about the earnings of a cupper. He said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was cupped, Abu Tayba cupped him, and he ordered that he be given two saa of food, and he spoke to his family, so they reduced his tax obligation. And he said, 'The best treatment you can use is cupping,' or, 'It is among the best of your remedies.'"Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Medicine (5696) through Abdullah, and Muslim (1577:63) through Marwan Fazari, from Humayd, with the same chain, similar to the hadith of Ismail bin Jafar. He added, "And costus indicus, and do not torment your children by pressing on the tonsils." The wording is Muslim's.
