The Prophet ﷺ was cupped, and he paid the one who cupped him. Had it been forbidden, he would not have paid him.
احتجم النبي ﷺ، وأعطى الذي حجمه، ولو كان حراما لم يعطه.
Bukhari reported it in "the Book of Sales" (2103) via Ikrima, from Ibn Abbas, as mentioned. Muslim reported it in "the Book of Sharecropping" (1202:65) via Tawus, from Ibn Abbas, similarly, but he did not mention, "and had it been forbidden he would not have given it to him." He added, "and he used a nasal remedy."He also reported it (66) via Shaybi, from Abdullah bin Abbas, with the wording, a slave belonging to Banu Bayada cupped the Prophet ﷺ, and the Prophet ﷺ gave him his wage, and he spoke to his master, so he reduced what was owed from him. And had it been unlawfully earned, the Prophet ﷺ would not have given it to him.His saying, "he used a nasal remedy," means he applied a medicine poured into the nose. As for the hadith prohibiting the wage of the cupper, discussion of it will come later in the section on the forbidden types of sales.
