Abdullah bin Abbas reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed Zuhr at Dhul Hulayfah, then called for his she-camel and made an incision on the right side of its hump, wiped away the blood, and hung two sandals around its neck as a marker. He then mounted his riding camel, and when it stood up with him on the open plain of Bayda, he entered the state of ihram for Hajj.
