Nubayt's son reported from his father Nubayt, from his father, who had performed the pilgrimage with the Prophet ﷺ, who said, "I saw him delivering the sermon on the Day of Arafah upon his camel."
عن أبيه نبيط، عن أبيه- وكان قد حج مع النبي ﷺ- قال: رأيته يخطب يوم عرفة على بعيره.
Imam Ahmad narrated it (18721) from Waki, who said, Salama bin Nubayt narrated to us, from his father, and he related it. Its isnad is sahih. Ibn Majah also narrated it (1286) from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba, who said, Waki narrated to us, except that he did not mention "Arafah" in it.However, Abu Dawud narrated it (1916) from Musaddad, who said, Abdullah bin Dawud narrated to us, from Salama bin Nubayt, from a man of the tribe, from his father Nubayt, that he saw the Prophet ﷺ standing at Arafah on a red camel, delivering a sermon. So he inserted a man between Salama bin Nubayt and his father, but the preserved version is without this addition, because a group of trustworthy narrators related it from Salama bin Nubayt, from his father, without inserting anyone between them. For more, see Kitab al-Eidayn, chapter on the Eid sermon delivered from the pulpit.
