"I used to perfume the Prophet ﷺ after he had thrown the pebbles at the Jamrah and before he made the circumambulation of the House."Salim said, "The practice of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has more right to be followed than the statement of Umar."
كنت أطيب النبي ﷺ بعد ما يرمي الجمرة قبل أن يفيض إلى البيت. قال سالم: فسنة رسول الله ﷺ أحق أن نأخذ بها من قول عمر.
Imam Ahmad (24750) narrated it from Muammal, who said, Sufyan narrated to us, from Amr bin Dinar, that Salim said, Ayesha said, and he mentioned it. Its chain is hasan because of the discussion surrounding Muammal, who is Ibn Ismail, described as having poor memory, except that in his narration from Sufyan Thawri he is reliable, as Ibn Main said.Salim's statement, "The sunnah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is more deserving that we follow it than the statement of Umar," refers to the fact that Umar bin Khattab used to say, "When you have stoned the pillar and sacrificed, everything that was forbidden to you becomes lawful except women and perfume."This was narrated by Abdul-Razzaq, and through his route by Ibn Khuzayma (2939), and Bayhaqi (5/135), from Mamar, from Zuhri, from Salim, from Ibn Umar, from Umar, that he used to say (and he mentioned it).Ibn Khuzayma said, "Ayesha's statement, 'I perfumed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for his state of lawfulness before he performed tawaf around the House,' is evidence that once he had stoned the pillar, sacrificed, and shaved his head, he became lawful before performing tawaf around the House, apart from what he was forbidden from, namely intercourse with women, which the scholars have not disagreed is prohibited until he performs the tawaf of visiting (tawaf al-ziyarah)."
