The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stopped for the people at Mina while they were questioning him. A man came to him and said, "Messenger of Allah, I was unaware and shaved my head before sacrificing."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Sacrifice now, and there is no harm."Then another man came and said, "Messenger of Allah, I was unaware and sacrificed before stoning."He said, "Stone now, and there is no harm."The narrator said, The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was not asked about anything done out of order, whether earlier or later, except that he said, "Do it, and there is no harm."
وقف رسول الله ﷺ للناس بمنى والناس يسألونه فجاءه رجل فقال له: يا رسول الله، لم أشعر فحلقت قبل أن أنحر؟ فقال رسول الله ﷺ: انحر ولا حرج. ثم جاءه آخر فقال: يا رسول الله، لم أشعر فنحرت قبل أن أرمي؟ قال: ارم ولا حرج. قال: فما سئل رسول الله ﷺ عن شيء قدم ولا أخر إلا قال: افعل ولا حرج.
Malik narrated it in Hajj (242) from Ibn Shihab Zuhri, from Isa bin Talha, from Abdullah bin Amr bin As, who related it. Bukhari narrated it in Hajj (1736), and Muslim in Hajj (1306: 327), both through the route of Malik, with the same wording.Both Bukhari (1737) and Muslim also narrate from the hadith of Ibn Jurayj, who said, I heard Zuhri, with his chain of transmission, from Abdullah bin Amr, who related to him that he witnessed the Prophet ﷺ delivering a sermon on the Day of Sacrifice. A man stood up to him and said, "I thought that such and such comes before such and such." Then another stood up and said, "I thought that such and such comes before such and such. I shaved my head before slaughtering, I slaughtered before I threw the pebbles," and similar things. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Do it, there is no harm," for all of them. So whatever he was asked about that day, he would only say, "Do it, there is no harm." This wording is Bukhari's.As for Muslim, he left the wording of the question unspecified, saying, for these three. Muslim did not mention these three before this point, he only mentioned the three afterward, in the hadith of Muhammad bin Abu Hafsa, from Zuhri. There it states, "I shaved my head before throwing the pebbles," so he said, "Throw the pebbles, there is no harm." Then another came to him and said, "I slaughtered before throwing the pebbles," so he said, "Throw the pebbles, there is no harm." Then another came to him and said, "I went around the House before throwing the pebbles," so he said, "Throw the pebbles, there is no harm."
