He was riding behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he reported that on the evening of Arafah and the morning of Muzdalifah, as the people were moving on, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to them, "Maintain calm." He was holding back his she-camel until he entered Muhassir, which is part of Mina. He said, "Use pebbles the size of those flicked between the fingers for stoning the Jamrah." He also said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ continued to pronounce the talbiyah until he stoned the Jamrah."
Muslim narrated it in Hajj (1282) through several routes, from Layth bin Saad, from Abu Zubayr, from Abu Mabad the freedman of Ibn Abbas, from Ibn Abbas, from Fadl bin Abbas, with this same wording.
