The Prophet ﷺ was asked, "I threw the pebbles after evening had come. Is that a problem?"He replied, "There is no harm in it."
سئل النبي ﷺ فقال: رميت بعد ما أمسيت؟ فقال: لا حرج.
Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on Hajj (1723), from Muhammad bin Muthanna, who said, Abdul-Ala narrated to us, who said, Khalid narrated to us, from Ikrima, from Ibn Abbas, and he related it.This hadith contains a shift from the preferred time for the stoning to the permissible time. It appears from the question that this took place on the Day of Sacrifice, since the preferred time is before midday. The Prophet ﷺ lifted the burden from anyone who performed the stoning in the evening, and by analogy this extends to anyone who performed it at night, since part of the evening overlaps with the night.
