The Prophet ﷺ used to say, "Allah, the Possessor of Majesty, takes pride before His angels on the evening of Arafah in those gathered at Arafah, saying, 'Look at My servants who have come to Me disheveled and dust-covered.'"
أن النبي ﷺ كان يقول: إن الله ذو الجلال يباهي ملائكته عشية عرفة بأهل عرفة، فيقول: انظروا إلى عبادي أتوني شعثا غبرا.
Ahmad (7089) narrated it from Azhar bin Qasim, who said, Muthanna, meaning Ibn Saeed, narrated to us, from Qatada, from Abdullah bin Babah, from Abdullah bin Amr, and he related it.Tabarani also narrated it in al-Saghir (575) through this same route. Its chain is hasan because of Azhar bin Qasim, for he is truthful.Haythami said in al-Majmu (3/250), Ahmad and Tabarani narrated it in al-Kabir and al-Saghir, and the men of Ahmad's chain are trustworthy.There are other hadiths with the same meaning, but they are all daif.See, Book of Faith, chapters on belief in the angels.
