I asked Anas bin Malik, "Tell me about something you remember from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Where did he pray Dhuhr on the Day of Tarwiyah?"He replied, "At Mina."I asked, "And where did he pray Asr on the Day of Departure?"He replied, "At al-Abtah." Then he added, "Do as your leaders do."
سألت أنس بن مالك، قلت: أخبرني عن شيء عقلته عن رسول الله ﷺ أين صلى الظهر يوم التروية؟ قال: بمنى. قلت: فأين صلى العصر يوم النفر؟ قال: بالأبطح. ثم قال افعل ما يفعل أمراؤك.
Bukhari related it in the Book of Hajj (1653), and Muslim in the Book of Hajj (1309), both of them from Ishaq bin Yusuf Azraq, who said, our teacher told us, Sufyan, that is, Thawri, from Abdul-Aziz bin Rafi, with the same chain. Their wording is identical except that Bukhari's version contains an added word, Asr, in his statement, "Where did he pray Dhuhr and Asr on the day of Tarwiya." This is a shazz (irregular) addition that only Bukhari's teacher, Abdullah bin Muhammad Jafi, included, from Ishaq Azraq.Hafiz said in Fath al-Bari (3/508), "The word 'Asr' was not mentioned by anyone else. It will come later near the end of the chapter on the description of Hajj [1763], from Abu Musa, Muhammad bin Muthanna, according to the author." He then named twelve people who related it from Ishaq Azraq, and none of them said "and Asr."
