The Prophet ﷺ and his companions arrived on the morning of the fourth of Dhul-Hijjah, having entered ihram for Hajj alone with nothing else mixed into it. When we arrived, he ordered us to convert our intention into Umrah and to be free to be intimate with our wives. People began gossiping about this.Ata said that Jabir reported, "One of us would set out for Mina with semen dripping from him!" Jabir gestured with his hand as he said this.Word of this reached the Prophet ﷺ, so he stood up to address the people and said, "I have heard that certain people are saying such and such. By Allah, I am the most righteous and God-fearing among them. Had I known beforehand what I now know, I would not have brought the sacrificial animals, and were it not for the fact that I have the sacrificial animals with me, I too would have exited ihram."Then Suraqa bin Malik bin Jusham stood up and asked, "Messenger of Allah, is this ruling for us alone, or is it forever?"He replied, "No, it is forever."
