Ata bin Abu Rabah reported,

Ata reported, "I heard Jabir bin Abdullah, while in the company of some people, say, 'We, the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, entered into ihram for Hajj alone, without combining it with Umrah.'"Ata said, Jabir said, "The Prophet ﷺ arrived on the morning of the fourth of Dhul-Hijjah. When we arrived, the Prophet ﷺ commanded us to exit ihram, saying, 'Exit ihram and go to your wives.'"Ata said, Jabir said, "He did not make it binding upon them, but rather permitted intimacy with their wives. Then word reached him that we were saying, 'When there are only five days between us and Arafah, he commands us to go to our wives, so that we come to Arafah with our private parts dripping with semen.'"Jabir gestured with his hand to illustrate. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up and said, "You know that I am the most God-fearing, the most truthful, and the most righteous of you. Were it not for my sacrificial animal, I would have exited ihram as you are exiting it. So exit ihram. Had I known earlier what I know now, I would not have brought a sacrificial animal."So we exited ihram, and we listened and obeyed.Muslim added, Ata said, Jabir said, "Ali came back from his expedition, and the Prophet ﷺ asked him, 'For what did you enter ihram?'"Ali replied, "For that which the Prophet ﷺ entered ihram."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Then offer a sacrifice and remain in ihram."Ali had brought a sacrificial animal with him.Suraqa bin Malik bin Jusham asked, "Messenger of Allah, is this for this year of ours, or forever?"He replied, "Forever."

عن عطاء بن أبي رباح قال

سمعت جابر بن عبد الله في أناس معه قال: أهللنا أصحاب رسول الله ﷺ في الحج خالصا ليس معه عمرة. قال عطاء: قال جابر: فقدم النبي ﷺ صبح رابعة مضت من ذي الحجة، فلما قدمنا أمرنا النبي ﷺ أن نحل، وقال: أحلوا، وأصيبوا من النساء قال عطاء: قال جابر: ولم يعزم عليهم، ولكن أحلهن لهم، فبلغه أنا تقول: لما لم يكن بيننا وبين عرفة إلا خمس أمرنا أن نحل إلى نسائنا فنأتي عرفة تقطر مذاكيرنا المذي، قال: ويقول جابر بيده هكذا وحركها، فقام رسول الله ﷺ، فقال: قد علمتم أني أتقاكم الله، وأصدقكم، وأبركم، ولولا هديي لحللت كما تحلون فحلوا، فلو استقبلت من أمري ما استدبرت ما أهديت فحللنا وسمعنا وأطعنا. وزاد مسلم: قال عطاء: قال جابر: فقدم علي من سعايته فقال: بم أهللت. قال: بما أهل به النبي ﷺ فقال له رسول الله ﷺ: فأهد وامكث حراما. قال: وأهدى له علي هديا فقال سراقة بن مالك بن جعشم يا رسول الله، ألعامنا هذا أم لأبد؟ فقال: لأبد.
