Ibn Umar reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to leave by way of al-Shajarah and return by way of al-Muarras. When he entered Makkah, he would enter through the upper pass and leave through the lower pass.
أن رسول الله ﷺ كان يخرج من طريق الشجرة ويدخل من طريق المعرس، وإذا دخل مكة دخل من الثنية العليا ويخرج من النبية السفلى.
Bukhari narrated it in the book of Hajj (1576), and Muslim in the book of Hajj (1257), both through the route of Ubaydullah bin Umar, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, as mentioned. The wording given is Muslim's. Bukhari also narrated it (1575) through the route of Maen bin Isa, from Malik, from Ibn Umar, in a shortened form. This hadith is not found in the Muwatta of Laythi, nor did Jawhari mention it in Musnad Muwatta.
