Abu Umama Taymi reported,

I was a man who used to hire out my services for transport on this route to Hajj, and some people kept telling me, "There is no Hajj for you."So I met Ibn Umar and said, "Abu Abdul-Rahman, I am a man who hires out my services on this route, and some people are telling me that there is no Hajj for me."Ibn Umar replied, "Do you not enter into ihram, recite the talbiyah, perform tawaf around the House, depart from Arafat, and stone the pillars?"I said, "Yes, I do."He said, "Then you have a Hajj. A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him about the very same thing you have asked me. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent and did not answer him until this verse was revealed, 'There is no blame upon you for seeking bounty from your Lord' [Baqarah 2:198]. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent for him, recited this verse to him, and said, 'You have a Hajj.'"

عن أبي أمامة التيمي، قال

كنت رجلا أكري في هذا الوجه، وكان ناس يقولون لي: إنه ليس لك حج، فلقيت ابن عمر فقلت: يا أبا عبد الرحمن، إني رجل أكري في هذا الوجه وإن ناسا يقولون لي إنه ليس لك حج؟ فقال ابن عمر: أليس تحرم وتلبي وتطوف بالبيت وتفيض من عرفات وترمي الحمار؟ قال: قلت بلى قال: فإن لك حبا، جاء رجل إلى النبي ﷺ فسأله عن مثل ما سألتني عنه فسكت عنه رسول الله ﷺ فلم يجبه حتى نزلت هذه الآية {ليس عليكم جناح أن تبتغوا فضلا من ربكم}. فأرسل إليه رسول الله ﷺ وقرأ عليه هذه الآية وقال: لك حج.
