Abdul-Rahman bin Amir bin Rabia reported,

I saw Uthman bin Affan at al-Arj on a hot day. He was in a state of ihram and had covered his face with a purple velvet cloth. Then some game meat was brought to him, and he said to his companions, "Eat."They asked, "Will you not eat with us?"He replied, "I am not in the same situation as you. It was hunted for my sake."

Sahih

عن عبد الرحمن بن عامر بن ربيعة، قال

رأيت عثمان بن عفان بالعرج وهو محرم في يوم صائف قد غطى وجهه بقطيفة أرجوان، ثم أتي بلحم صيد فقال لأصحابه كلوا، فقالوا: أو لا تأكل أنت؟ فقال إني لست كهيتتكم، إنما صيد من أجلي.
