I saw Uthman bin Affan at al-Arj on a hot day. He was in a state of ihram and had covered his face with a purple velvet cloth. Then some game meat was brought to him, and he said to his companions, "Eat."They asked, "Will you not eat with us?"He replied, "I am not in the same situation as you. It was hunted for my sake."
رأيت عثمان بن عفان بالعرج وهو محرم في يوم صائف قد غطى وجهه بقطيفة أرجوان، ثم أتي بلحم صيد فقال لأصحابه كلوا، فقالوا: أو لا تأكل أنت؟ فقال إني لست كهيتتكم، إنما صيد من أجلي.
Malik related it in Hajj (87) from Abdullah bin Abu Bakr, from Abdul-Rahman bin Amir bin Rabia, and he mentioned it.Malik said, "Regarding a man in the state of ihram for whom game is hunted, and that game is prepared for him, and he eats from it while knowing that it was hunted for his sake, he owes the full compensation for that game."
