Muslim narrated it in Hajj (1194) through several routes from Habib bin Abu Thabit, from Saeed bin Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas, and he related it. In one narration, "the leg of a wild donkey." In another narration, "the rear part of a wild donkey, dripping with blood." In another narration, "the side of a wild donkey."Shafii said, "The hadith of Malik that Sab gifted the Prophet ﷺ a donkey is more firmly established than the hadith of whoever narrated that he gifted him some meat of a donkey."As for what was narrated from Yahya bin Sulayman Jafi, who said, "Ibn Wahb narrated to me, Yahya bin Ayub informed me, from Yahya bin Saeed, from Jafar bin Amr bin Umaya Damri, from his father, that Sab bin Junamah gifted the Prophet ﷺ the rear part of a wild donkey while he was at Juhfah, so he ate from it, and the people ate" this is munkar. Bayhaqi narrated it (5/193) through this route.Yahya bin Sulayman Jafi is a subject of disagreement. Abu Hatim said, "A shaykh," Daraqutni said, "Trustworthy," and Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the trustworthy narrators. But Nasai said, "He is not trustworthy." As for the one who narrated from him, Yahya bin Ayub, who is Ghafiqi, Nasai said of him, "He is not that strong," Abu Hatim said, "He cannot be relied upon," and Ahmad said, "He makes major errors." Malik accused him of lying regarding two hadiths.Therefore Ibn Turkmani said, after quoting the statements of the scholars about the two of them, "Given this, one should not busy oneself with interpreting this hadith, because of its chain of transmission and because it contradicts the sahih hadith. As for Bayhaqi's statement that he accepted the meat, this is refuted by what is established in the sahih hadith, that he returned it." End of Ibn Turkmani's words.
