The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade a person in the state of ihram from wearing a garment dyed with wars or saffron, and he said, "Whoever cannot find sandals should wear leather socks, but let him cut them so they fall below the ankles."
نهى رسول الله ﷺ أن يلبس المحرم ثوبا مصبوغا بورس أو بزعفران، وقال: من لم يجد نعلين فليلبس خفين وليقطعهما أسفل من الكعبين.
Malik narrated it in the Hajj chapter (9) from Abdullah bin Dinar, from Abdullah bin Umar, and he mentioned it.Muslim also narrated it in the Hajj chapter (1177:3) through the route of Malik with his chain, similarly.Bukhari narrated it in the Clothing chapter (5847) from the hadith of Sufyan, from Abdullah bin Dinar, with his chain, similarly, except that he did not mention in it the saying, "Whoever does not find sandals..."
